Bayern Munich are preparing another offer for Tottenham’s Harry Kane worth £94.6m; the 30-year-old has a year left on his contract but the German champions are ready to spend big; watch Brentford vs Tottenham live on Sky Sports Super Sunday this weekend; kick off 2 p.m.
Paul Merson says Tottenham cannot reject Bayern Munich’s looming £94.6million bid for Harry Kane – but warns Spurs they won’t make the top 10 if the England captain leaves the club.
Tottenham can’t turn down that money with one year remaining on his contract as they believe he’ll walk free at the end.
Yes, he is 30 years old but I don’t really pay attention to all that. The way he plays, I think he can play up to 35, 36 easily. He doesn’t rely on rhythm, his brain is as good as anyone.
I’m still shocked here today and I don’t know why Manchester United didn’t buy him. If they had, they would have had four or five good years with him and they would have won the Premier League.
You have no choice – surely they can’t let him go next season for nothing. Whoever you are and these days – and I know there’s a lot of money in the Premier League – but you’d be crazy to dismiss that.
Will this Tottenham team enter the top four next season? I would be shocked. So it’s not like you keep it and definitely get into the top four, so whatever we lose by selling it, you’ll come back to the Champions League. This will not be the case.
Why couldn’t he go to Chelsea? He can go wherever he wants next summer. It all depends on what happens now. Is he sitting there and Levy telling him not to go to those other clubs? So could Kane leave: I’ll sit quietly and make you [a disservice] and leave to sign for Chelsea? Mauricio Pochettino is there too.
Manchester United have just paid £72m for Rasmus Hojlund so they can’t buy Harry Kane. If this boy doesn’t produce, he’ll be under enough pressure as it is. The only way for him to join Man City is if Spurs say: can we get Julian Alvarez in return? Because he will score goals.
Kane scored 30 goals last season and Spurs finished far behind. You pity Ange Postecoglou, but you’re talking about a team that could, couldgetting into the top four if he stays, then a team that doesn’t get into the first half if he leaves.
They are 100% a bottom half team if he leaves. Who will score the goals? They finished eighth last season. I like James Maddison, he’s a good player. But Leicester were relegated.
The wolves are playing a dangerous game, I can’t see them staying awake
Many owners in the bottom half of the Premier League table are trying their luck.
They watch Luton and Sheffield United arrive and think, ‘We’re going to be better than them, if we’re better than one more team why do we have to spend £100m and give £100,000 a week wages?
That’s the problem with Wolves, they get rid of all these players and don’t bring anyone in. My only thought is that they say ‘we have to be better than Luton and Sheffield United’. And it’s a dangerous game.
Looking at the current photo, I don’t think the wolves are standing. If Gary O’Neil arrives, he will do a good job. If they bring someone in, they would need the advantage of someone who runs the Premier League as well as they did yesterday. Then he would come and know the teams.
You wouldn’t want to bring in someone from abroad who would just have to get used to it. Gary would know all of these players, he wouldn’t have worked with them but played against them. But someone else would ask for six months and then they would be relegated at Christmas.
