Jurrien Timber’s Premier League debut ended prematurely after picking up an injury, but the Arsenal and Netherlands international defender has already offered fans hope for a speedy recovery.
Jurrien Timber has given Arsenal fans hope by suggesting he will be “back soon” after picking up an injury on his Premier League debut.
The Dutch defender, signed from Ajax in a transfer deal worth £38million last month, limped off just five minutes into the second half following this which appeared to be a calf problem picked up earlier in Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest. After the match, manager Mikel Arteta admitted he was “worried” about the extent of Timber’s injury, but the 22-year-old himself appears to have already allayed fears of a lengthy layoff.
In a celebratory Instagram post, Timber wrote, “A win to begin with,” alongside emojis that read “back soon.” Fans in the comments section have begged him to give a timetable for his absence but Arteta has already explained that the Dutch international will first need to be assessed by Arsenal medical staff.
“I have to speak with the doctors and figure out what happened, but he had a really weird movement as soon as he got on the pitch,” the Gunners boss told talkSPORT. “Then I do not know.”
Arteta had been criticized for not removing Timber at half-time, a move the Arsenal manager defended in his post-match press conference. “The doctors looked at him and they were happy he was continuing, he was too,” Arteta explained.
“Straight away in the first action of the second half he made a move and it was a bit funny. We took him out straight after and now we have to assess him and see what he has.”

At least the Gunners could be sure of picking up three points as a well-scored goal from Eddie Nketiah and howler Bukayo Saka got Arsenal off to a successful start to their league campaign, despite Taiwo Awoniyi’s late consolation strike . “We were super dominant, we deserved to win the game, there’s no doubt we deserved to win the game,” Arteta said.
“But when you’re 2-0 down and you have chances to kill the game we didn’t and then we gave a very sloppy one after being there and having the corner and having a chance on the corner.

“From two passes you concede a goal, when that happens in the league, that’s the game, every team has the resources, the quality to create problems, and it was more about the feeling of what happened. happened, because the reality is that we don’t have “I don’t concede anything. Cutting time in this league is a very dangerous thing to do, but overall I’m very happy.”
