Oti Mabuse has shared the heartwarming moment she told her sister Motsi about her pregnancy.
The Strictly Come Dancing star, 33, announced on Saturday that she is expecting her first child with husband Marius Iepure, after revealing they had been “trying to conceive for a while”.
In an Instagram post on Monday, Oti shared a montage of clips telling friends and family about her pregnancy, with Motsi struggling to hide her excitement.
The clip also showed the dancer’s other brother, Phemelo, shouting in joy before bursting into tears.
Captioning the post, Oti shared that she and Marius have been keeping their baby news a secret for many months because the first two trimesters can be “super, really tough.”
She wrote: “BRINGING THE NEWS TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS
“Living as a couple in another country means you don’t have family around you to break the news face to face.
“And more often than not, friends became family ❤️ we’re so lucky with our group of friends, *warning* not all of them aren’t enough video space, but we kept our circle really tight, full positive energy, laughter and joy.
“Because this first and second trimester can be very difficult for us. Really grateful.
In her Instagram Stories, Oti explained that she and Marius stopped actively looking for a baby when she became pregnant, alongside a clip of when she shared the news with her friend Nkateko Dinwiddy.
In the video, Oti and Nkateko posed together for a snap in a mirror, before she turned around to reveal her growing bump.
She wrote: “My friend @takkies7 asked me to take a test because I drink coffee and don’t drink coffee.
“We had been trying for a while and decided to quit (it was all getting too hard) and just live our lives together, when nothing was happening.
“We enjoyed each other’s company dinners, concerts, parties, just took all the pressure off and here we are!”
Oti shared her pregnancy news live on ITV’s Oti Mabuse’s Breakfast Show on Saturday morning.
Embracing her husband, Oti started the last segment of her show as usual, before teasing that they “had some good news”.
She said: “Speaking of things you didn’t know back home, we have a little something for you all, we have some good news. We’re having a baby!’
The couple then shared a warm embrace as the crew could be heard cheering, while Marisha and Chizzy looked completely shocked at the revelation.
After confirming the news live, Oti then took to Instagram to share a series of cute snaps of herself cradling her baby bump as she posed alongside Marius.
She also alluded to her due date by saying their “beautiful journey” was “almost over” and teased that “Christmas is about to get even louder”.
She wrote: “Our ‘yes’ year is getting better and better and so is our little family.
“We finally feel ready and excited to share our wonderful news. It’s new to us, scarier than swimming with sharks, jumping off a cliff, or even swinging off a bridge, but it’s the best news we could hope for.
“We already love our little one so much…and we can’t wait to see what our future will look like now as a family of 3 plus Leo. It’s been a great journey so far with close friends and family and it’s almost over, but we’ve learned a lot along the way… Christmas is about to get even louder.
Her famous friends were quick to take to the comments section to share their joy and congratulations with the happy couple.
Oti and Marius met in Germany at a dance competition and participated in several competitions together.
Marius popped the question on his birthday to the Dancing On Ice judge in 2014 and the couple tied the knot the same year.
Oti left Strictly Come Dancing after the 2021 series after a seven-year stint on the show. Her sister Motsi is still a judge at the BBC dance competition.
Oti was keen to pursue other television opportunities after establishing herself as a talent show judge on ITV’s The Masked Dancer and Dancing On Ice.
