The 2023 Rugby World Cup kicked off on Friday (September 8) as hosts France beat mighty New Zealand in a convincing opening match in Paris.

A lopsided draw means Pools A and B are made up of many of the world’s heavyweight nations and sees South Africa, Ireland and Scotland battling to qualify in the same group.

It also paves the way for progress at the weaker side of the table and means two Wales, Australia, Fiji, England, Argentina and Japan are likely to reach the semi-finals.

Chile are making their debut in the competition after beating Canada and the United States in qualifying for the Americas zone, while Portugal are set to return to the World Cup for the first time in 16 years.

Here’s how to watch the tournament on TV in the UK – details of the round of 16 will be decided later. Get all Rugby World Cup odds here and the latest England vs Argentina predictions and odds here.
