One of Starfield’s most interesting questlines sees players infiltrating the Crimson Fleet on behalf of UC Sysdef. At the end of this story you will have the choice between the two factions, so should you choose Crimson Fleet or UC Sysdef in Starfield?
Starfield’s main campaign is only a small part of what the universe has to offer, as Bethesda has packed the game with plenty to see and do. Even after racking up credits, there are tons of new planets to find, weapons to unlock, and side missions to complete.

The galaxy is also home to a number of different factions that can be joined and have their own storyline. One of them drags players into the middle of a conflict between UC Sysdef and the Crimson Fleet where you have to act as a double agent.
Towards the end of this questline, during the “Eye of the Storm” mission, players are forced to stop playing both sides and make a choice. So should you choose the Crimson Fleet or UC Sysdef in Starfield? Here’s everything you need to know.

Starfield: choosing UC Sysdef explained
Eye of the Storm focuses on UC Sysdef’s attack on The Key.
If you choose UC Sysdef in Starfield, the Eye of the Storm mission will ask you to attack The Key to wipe out the Crimson fleet once and for all. The mission begins with the destruction of three large lasers guarding the base, as well as an epic space battle against enemy ships.
You must then battle hordes of Crimson Fleet pirates to reach Delgado, who can either be killed immediately or convinced to surrender.

Which is the better choice in Starfield: Crimson Fleet or UC Sysdef?
Overall, the Crimson Fleet is the best option in Starfield’s Eye of the Storm mission. We recommend that you side with the space pirates, although some of your companions might not agree with this decision.
Since the cash reward is the same for both sides, it all depends on which of the two factions is more useful as you progress through the rest of the game. the Crimson Fleet has easily accessible vendors across the galaxy who can offer valuable resources.

More importantly, choosing UC Sysdef will turn the Crimson Fleet against you, so you’ll have to fight whatever forces you come across. However, choosing the opposite side does not earn a bounty with UC Sysdef, so there are far fewer consequences to deal with.
That being said, the differences between the two are relatively small, so feel free to choose which faction you align with the most.
